impacting our school communities

Every public school mom in Guilford County has something to give. The support we offer to our school communities will look different for each mom because we are all different: that is the beauty of the body of Christ in action.

Here you'll find ways to volunteer with Gathered and other respected organizations serving our schools. This is only a beginning, so check back often!

Through advocacy, a teacher supply warehouse, informative community events, and much more, they work to foster a vibrant public school system. We highly recommend their Let’s Talk Education speaker series as a great way to become more connected, informed, and engaged in our school system!

Moms in Prayer impacts children and schools by gathering women to pray.

Across our area, moms gather weekly in school-specific groups to pray over their children and their school communities. Moms in Prayer provides resources and a simple, structured method of prayer, making it easy to join with other women to regularly lift your children and their school to the Lord.

BackPack Beginnings delivers child-centric services to feed, comfort and clothe children in need.

In Young Life, adult leaders build friendships with high school students on their own turf, invite them to follow Christ, care for them regardless of their response, and change lives in the process.

Together, Greensboro and High Point YL areas have leaders at 8 of our county's high schools as well as ministries to teen moms (Young Lives), those with special needs (Capernaum Young Life), and college students (Young Life College).

Greensboro Urban Ministry expresses the love of God to neighbors in need by offering food, shelter and solutions.

They long for stable lives for their neighbors. Having served the Greensboro community since 1967, GUM has impacted countless lives through their shelter program, emergency assistance, food pantry, and more.

Out of the Garden Project’s mission is to provide tangible signs of love so that no child goes to bed hungry.

Begun around Don and Kristy Milholin’s dining room table in 2008, OOTGP now provides more than 1,500 bags of food each weekend to students and families at nearly half of the schools in Guilford County and they operate 22 fresh mobile markets each month, which distribute food to families and communties in need.
